John 5: 18 - 30

Gospel of John - Good News

Who is Jesus - This week, we pause to do a deep dive into difficult, but important theology. At the heart of our faith is the belief that Jesus of Nazareth, who was a human person born of a woman in real time and space, is also fully divine—the only begotten Son of God. That identity—he is fully man and fully God—is taken up in John 5:18-30. As we explore that identity on Sunday, we’ll ask the text what it means for Jesus to be both God and man, we’ll examine the titles that he uses of himself, and we’ll explore the difference it makes for you and me. John 5: 18 - 30.

The New Year is a great time to revisit the story of Jesus, because our hope for the future is only as secure as our grounding in the person and work of Christ for us. Even though this Gospel isn’t about us, it is for us—Jesus is the Word who is life, and that life is the light of all men. No matter what future you are staring down this New Year, I want you to have the unshakable confidence that the Word which spoke life into being holds your life in his hands and the darkness will not overcome it.
