John 6: 1-15

Gospel of John - Good News

The King of Bread - So far in the Gospel of John, we have seen people react to Jesus with amazement, with searching questions, with recognition of his mission and purpose, with hatred, and with gratitude. This week, as we turn to John 6, we see thousands of people react with violence. After Jesus miraculously feeds 5,000 men (upwards of 20,000 total men, women, and children) with five loaves and two fish, the crowd surges forward ready to make Jesus king—by force, if necessary. Join us this Sunday as we explore their reasons, for in them we’ll see our own dangerous inclinations to “use God” for our own purposes. John 6: 1-15.

From Series: "Gospel of John - Good News"

The New Year is a great time to revisit the story of Jesus, because our hope for the future is only as secure as our grounding in the person and work of Christ for us. Even though this Gospel isn’t about us, it is for us—Jesus is the Word who is life, and that life is the light of all men. No matter what future you are staring down this New Year, I want you to have the unshakable confidence that the Word which spoke life into being holds your life in his hands and the darkness will not overcome it.
