Sunday School

SUMMER SESSION: JUNE 16 – AUGUST 4 (no class July 7)
Our Sunday School, called School of Discipleship, is a time of growing in the knowledge and grace of the Lord for the whole family.  We meet from 10:15 to 11:00 a.m. in Calvin Hall classrooms.

Children’s Class: Understanding the Faith
This summer, we are introducing a new class to help children understand basic elements of the faith! This class is a way to give kids a more comprehensive, thorough look at theology and their role as a church member. (Note: This is not what is often called a “communicants” class.)

The class, which will be taught by Brian Russell and Landy Ligon, is designed for kids from third through sixth grades. It will meet in Calvin Hall, Room 209, during the regular School of Discipleship time. Using the Bible and the Westminster Shorter Catechism as our source material, the  class will cover topics such as: reliability of the Scriptures, attributes of God and the Trinity, the work of Christ, the covenants, the sacraments, the Holy Spirit and sanctification, and the meaning of church membership. There is a take-home workbook  to help students think through the material on their own and bridge the gap if they need to miss a class or two.

Parents’ Class: Discipling Your Children
Alongside the children’s class, Pastor Waller and Pastor Serven will present a series of classes for parents, dealing with the “how” of discipling children in the faith. In this practical class, they will explain how to teach your children essential truths from the Bible, teach them to pray and participate in worship, train them to serve others in the name of Jesus Christ, and how to use the Westminster Confession of Faith and Shorter Catechism in their spiritual growth.

Child Care for Younger Ones
For this summer session, children from infants through second grade are welcome to attend our child care program, with supervised activities for the fours through second graders staffed by our wonderful volunteers! Please check your child/ren in at the nursery reception counter.
