We are excited to announce that the Session has hired Redeemer member Albert Yonimiki to serve as our new part-time Mission and Mercy Ministry coordinator. Many of you already know Albert and his family: his wife Esther and children, Bienfait (currently serving in the US Marine Corps Reserve), Blessing, Gladys, and Gloria. Albert has served in ministry for many years, including planting 12 churches in Central Africa, starting one of Redeemer’s global missions partners, The Dorcas Foundation in Burundi, working in Austin with World Relief, serving the greater refugee and asylum seeker population in Central Texas, and serving as a minister speaking and preaching across the US.

Albert’s new role with Redeemer will combine his desire to serve in the PCA, pursuing ordination by attending seminary through LAMP (the PCA’s distance seminary program in partnership with Mission to North America) and completing the requirements for ordination in the South Texas Presbytery. He will also work closely with the soon-to-launch Brookside school hosted on Redeemer’s campus this coming fall. Albert will serve the families of Brookside as a ministerial and mentoring presence, both helping with English learning and translation and serving families in need, focusing on both ministry of mercy and discipleship. Albert will also work with Redeemer’s Missions Committee and Diaconate to better establish long-term partnerships with churches in Austin that serve the refugee population and implement a strategy for effectively serving refugees while focusing on day-to-day ministry with refugees in need.

We are excited to continue to see God work through Albert and to walk with him through the process of ordination in the PCA. Please join us in welcoming Albert this Sunday, June 2, his first Sunday on staff, and pray for his ministry and education.
