We want to support and encourage Redeemer parents in the important work of teaching the First Catechism to their children. This is a good way to start conversations about the basics of our faith and help them soak up these truths while they learn like little sponges!

Spring recitation dates are currently set for:
February 9
March 8
April 26

We’re in the second year of this program, and invite your active participation! About once a month, volunteers will listen to children recite the catechisms that they are studying in School of Discipleship (and that you are reinforcing at home) and reward them for as many as they can say on their own. Parents of children four years old through second grade will get a reminder email one week prior to recitation Sunday, and the volunteers will visit classrooms to listen to the children and encourage them in their efforts.

Parents, please watch for the take-home papers to learn which questions your child’s class is studying, and we will also aim to include that information in the monthly updates. For an online version of the First Catechism, click here.

We intend for this to be a fairly low-key, yet effective way to add a layer of support and reward students, while strengthening the tie between church and home in this area. If you have any questions about the Catechism Recitation Plan, please contact Carol Waller: cwaller@redeemerpres.org.
