At its meeting on September 5, the Session of Redeemer Presbyterian Church voted to call a congregational meeting for October 15, 2023, under Section 6.B of our By-laws. The meeting will take place immediately after each worship service. The purpose of the meeting is to present to the congregation Jon Herr and Danny Morgan as candidates for election by our members as Associate Pastors.

The elders called Jon and Danny in 2022 to serve Redeemer as Assistant Pastors. Assistant Pastors are not elected by the congregation, nor are they allowed to vote during Session meetings. Our Book of Church Order (BCO 22-2) allows the Session to recommend existing Assistant Pastors to the congregation for election as Associate Pastors, in accordance with BCO Chapter 20. Having completed a year of exemplary service among us, the elders are now recommending that you elect each of Jon and Danny to this new role.

We have asked each pastor to write up a short reflection for you to consider (see below). Please spend the next few weeks leading up to the congregational meeting asking questions of Jon, Danny, or any of the elders. We covet your prayers as we seek God’s will and direction for the church in the weeks and months ahead.

In Christ,
Eric Landry

It has been a good first year for me serving you and finding my place at Redeemer and in Austin. Jaicee, the kids, and I look forward to continuing to serve both you and our city together, particularly as we look for missional opportunities in the city, sharing the gospel with the lost and serving those in need. I am thankful to the Session of Redeemer for affirming our place here and our ministry in recommending me to continue to serve you as an Associate Pastor. Before the congregational meeting in October, please let me know if you have observed any deficiencies in my character that do not meet the qualifications for Elders in Scripture or if you want to discuss anything about the church or my ministry. I am thankful to be one of your pastors and for the privilege to help you and your family love Jesus more over the coming years.
Peace,
Danny Morgan

Just over a year ago, my family and I arrived in Austin to a welcome that far exceeded our expectations. From day one we have felt both welcome and at home with you at Redeemer.  I am very grateful and humbled by the Session’s recommendation to call me as your Associate Pastor.  In the coming years I hope to serve you in any way necessary to glorify Christ among us. For the immediate future I look forward to overseeing our Christian Education ministries, our Shepherding ministries, and the Session’s Accountability Committee. Additionally, I look forward to teaching, preaching, and working with you as we mutually develop in Christ. If you have any questions for me about this change or about anything in ministry, I am always happy to talk with you! Feel free to contact me either by email or in person on Sundays. Thank you again.
To God be the glory!
Jon Herr
