Our daily readings booklet, called Taking Gathered Worship Home (TGWH), has been developed for your use in the private worship of your home, whether you are married or single, and whether or not you have children. It is a tool to knit us together throughout the church year. Copies are also available on the literature table in the narthex.
Daily Lectionary Booklet for Pentecost 2024
The first component listed for each week is a written prayer for your use during that particular week. These prayers are taken from The Lutheran Service Book (2007). The second component of TGWH is the week’s suggested Bible reading. The readings are adapted from the Book of Common Prayer and the Book of Common Worship. They are arranged in a two-year cycle and provide for reading twice through the New Testament and once through much of the Old Testament. The readings reflect the seasons and festivals of the Christian year and come from the Psalter, the Old Testament, the Pastoral Epistles, and the Gospels. Often the readings will be connected thematically, giving us a wonderful way to receive the “whole counsel of God.” The third component is questions and answers from the Heidelberg Catechism, two or three each day.
