This spring, we are continuing to study the Gospel of John. Here are some questions to help your family think through the passages we’re studying in the next few weeks.
1. In John chapters 7-8, Jesus is in Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles. What was the Feast of Tabernacles and what symbolism of the feast points to Jesus’ saving work for us?
2. In John 9, Jesus heals a man born blind on the Sabbath day. Why was healing someone on the Sabbath day considered a sin by some of the Jewish religious leaders?
3. In John 10, Jesus is in Jerusalem during the Feast of Dedication (what we call “Hanukkah” today). What was the Feast of Dedication?
4. In John 11, Jesus heals his friend, Lazarus. Why does Jesus weep when he stands in front of Lazarus’ tomb?
5. On Palm Sunday, we will study John 12:12-19. How is Jesus’ kingdom different than the kingdoms of this world? How is Jesus a different kind of king?
