1 Samuel 5:1-4
Sometimes the enemies of God are easy to identify. Sometimes we’re surprised to discover, in the immortal words of the 1970 cartoon character Pogo, “we have met the enemy and he is us!” What happens when God’s inevitable victory means our inevitable defeat? How does God turn his victory toward our good? This Sunday, we’ll cover a lot of ground in 1 Samuel 5-6, so bring your Bibles and get ready to laugh at a very funny part of Scripture, but also be ready to be humbled as we consider God’s holiness and our sin.

We will hear the stories of King David and Solomon, the building of the Temple, and the glory of Israel under God’s blessing in the land of promise. We pick up with the introduction of Saul and will follow the story of the newly appointed King.
