John 20:19-31
Following the crucifixion of Jesus, the disciples were in a state of complete disarray- they were fearful, confused, doubting the meaning of their lives and obstinately dictating the terms of their own belief. These are hardly the qualities one would look for to commission a new generation of leaders for any movement, let alone the kingdom of heaven. But Christ in his mercy and all his glory appeared again and again to his distraught disciples to affirming them, to prove himself among them, to commission them and to raise them from a state of complete disarray to such confidence, hope and strength that in a mere forty days neither they, nor their families, nor the authorities whom they once feared would recognize them. This Sunday we will explore the purposes of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ to rediscover our hope and purpose in the risen Messiah!
