John 12:20-36a
Show Me Jesus - As we return to John, we find Jesus in the final week of his earthly ministry. And, fitting for this Epiphany season, he is being sought after by “some Greeks.” They want to see Jesus. But the rest of our passage is filled with a Jesus who utters enigmatic sayings, who speaks of his death, and who hears the voice of his Father in heaven. Like many of us, the Greeks got more than they bargained for when they asked to see Jesus! Over and over again in this Gospel, we have been confronted with a Jesus who pushes back against our expectations, who shatters our religious illusions, who shows himself in ways we could have never imagined. Join us this Sunday as we turn to John 12 and with the Greeks seek Jesus—in the text of Scripture, with words of prayer, and with hearts of hopeful expectation.
