Genesis 39:1-23

God\'s Unseen Hand

The Accused - The rest of Genesis is focused on the story of Joseph. When last we left him, Joseph was on the way down to Egypt, having been sold into slavery by his brothers. Providentially, the man who bought Joseph is Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, a captain of the guard. Joseph is blessed in Potiphar’s house. You might even say that he is treated better there than in his own father’s house. But suddenly and dramatically, the blessings seem to turn to persecution and tribulation. Where is God for Joseph when things suddenly go from blessing to trial? Where is God for you and me when we experience the same turn in our own life. Join us this Sunday as we consider Genesis 39.

As we return this fall to Genesis, we’ll be talking about how God works in and through the sinful actions of the characters in this section of the book to accomplish his will.
