John 16:25-33

Gospel of John: The Final Week

An earthquake is about to hit the disciples. In just a few short hours, Jesus will be "delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God” to be "crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men” (Acts 2:23). As Jesus predicts in our text, they will be scattered, when Christ will be left alone, and when Jesus will win. As the old kids’ television program song goes, “one of these things is not like the other.” How can a moment of divine loss be a moment of divine victory? How can the moment of the disciples’ greatest shame, be the moment of their rest and peace? How can the victory of the world actually be the victory of God? Join us this Sunday as we conclude—for now—our sermon series in the Gospel of John with a study of the final verses of John 16: “Jesus Wins."
