John 20:19-23

Gospel of John: Jesus, Our Great High Priest

Immediately after the Resurrection, Jesus appears to ten of his disciples. He finds them afraid and confused. They were afraid of the Jews and confused by the report from Mary Magdalen. What does Jesus say to these disciples? It is John’s version of what is often called, “The Great Commission.” Through the mission Jesus gives his disciples in John 20 we can see the depth of our own hope in Christ: peace with God, an expanding kingdom, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and spiritual power that makes a difference. Join us this Sunday as we explore each of these elements from John’s Gospel.

From Series: "Gospel of John: Jesus, Our Great High Priest"

This Sunday we return to the Gospel of John to see our great High Priest at work. First, in his prayer. And then in his atoning work on the cross. Over the spring we’ll walk with Jesus through the final hours of his earthly life and then experience the joy (and confusion) of his disciples when they discover that he has risen from the dead. Along the way we’ll gain a greater understanding of the heart of Jesus for you and me, as well as the goal of his redeeming work that stretches as far as the curse is found.
