Genesis 49
Do you want to know your future? What kind of life you’ll lead, how your children will grow, when you will die? Whatever benefit we might have to knowing the future pales, I think, in comparison to the sense of fatality: do I really want to know about the sadness of life beforehand? Wouldn’t it be better to be surprised by both suffering and joy? In his final moments of life, Jacob prophesies. He tells each of his sons what will happen to them in the days to come. For the most part, the prophecies of the future follow the pattern of the past. But there are a few surprising twists and turns along the way. Join us this Sunday as we open up Genesis 49 and discover the future of Jacob’s sons.
