The Easter story doesn’t dawn with hope and expectation. The women who gather at Jesus’ tomb have come to deal with death. But what begins as a day of sadness dawns as the first day of the new creation: a new world where death does not have the last laugh, where sin does not win, and where sinners are welcomed into God’s presence as his beloved children.
