Founded 20 years ago with support from Redeemer and its members, City School is a PreK-8th Christian school in East Austin. Operating in the Charlotte Mason educational tradition of a liberal arts education for all, City School aims to set a feast of education for mind, body, and spirit, forming students to follow Christ and serve others.
The school’s vision is not only to set a feast, but also to make this rich, Christ-centered educational experience accessible to a diverse community. Offering financial aid on a sliding scale, the school aims to ensure that no student is unable to attend due to financial circumstances. 80% of the students receive financial aid and 80% of the school’s income comes from donations.
Here are ways you can pray:
- Under a wonderful leadership team, we are operating in the 2022-2023 school year without a Head of School. Pray for discernment as the board and senior staff chooses new leadership.
- Pray for our students, that the Holy Spirit would speak to them through our atmosphere, curriculum, and teachers, and that God would form them to be strong in truth and love.
- Pray for our teachers, for wisdom, energy, and refreshment.
- Pray for our families struggling to recover from the financial and emotional stresses of the last few years.
- Pray that God would continue to provide for the school financially, through the generosity of our community.
Here are ways you can be involved:
- We welcome volunteers, especially in the library with our very own Kate Ray!
- Starting in the spring, City School will be offering small, once-a-month tours. If you are interested in our vision, mission, and pedagogy and want to see it for yourself, we would love to invite you to participate.
- Spread the word! If you know any families for whom our school might be a good fit, or anyone who might like to know more about the school for any other reason, you can serve the school by getting us connected.
