This month we are featuring a ministry that is new to the list of organizations we support. Redeemer member Matt Gallegos is in his fifth year of working with Texas Student Mobilization (StuMo), which exists to build reproducing followers of Christ from UT to reach the campus and the world. They want to see laborers for Christ who walk deeply with Jesus and engage the lost around them with the gospel be raised up and launched out after they graduate. They do ministry with many affinity groups, mostly focusing on fraternities, sororities, other non-Greek men’s organizations, and dorms.

Matt’s Ministry
Matt Gallegos says, “I do ministry in three fraternities: Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Chi, and Beta Theta Pi. This ministry includes meeting freshmen, having Investigative Bible Discussions, evangelism, and discipleship of the guys who follow Jesus. There are two men who I’ve had the privilege of seeing turn and trust in Christ over the last three years. I spend significant amounts of time with them, establishing them in their faith and equipping them to make disciples in their fraternity (Sigma Phi Epsilon).”

Matt reports that there are 30 guys who regularly come to the freshmen Bible study for Sigma Epsilon. “Several of these 30 guys are processing what it looks like to turn from their sin and trust Christ as Savior and Lord,” he adds. “For example, Mason is a senior SigEp whom I got to see the Lord save the summer after his freshman year. Since then I’ve been discipling Mason, establishing and equipping him in his faith. He lives in the house, which means he is able to be around the new members and other actives in the fraternity.”

Praying for StuMo
Please pray for God to open the eyes of freshman guys in SigEp and to save them, for Matt to have opportunities to share the gospel in ways that relate to the life experiences of the guys he has met, and for the Lord to raise up laborers for himself from Texas and send them out into the corners of the world. Join them in praying for the Lord to use Texas StuMo to export 400 of these laborers by 2040. “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:2-4
