Genesis 38:1-30

God\'s Unseen Hand

Double Jeopardy - Last week, we saw how Judah took control of the situation and led his brothers to sell Joseph into slavery. This week, we continue with Judah’s story and see how his life goes from bad to worse. He marries into the Canaanite culture, his sons are evil, he fails to do justice, he is sexually immoral, he is a hypocrite, he is brutally sadistic, and he is an ancestor of Jesus Christ. How can these things be? How can Tamar—who uses deception and sexual immorality herself—be the heroine of this strange story of Scripture? Join us this week, as we study Genesis 38 and the double jeopardy that Judah and Tamar find themselves in.

As we return this fall to Genesis, we’ll be talking about how God works in and through the sinful actions of the characters in this section of the book to accomplish his will.
