Recently, the session approved several welcome changes to our shepherding program. The purpose of our shepherding program is to ensure that every member of Redeemer is prayed for regularly and provided the kind of care we all need as part of the body of Christ. In order to strengthen this ministry, we are making several important changes. The most obvious change is an increase in the number of parishes from three to five: our North, Central and South Parishes have now been divided into Northeast, Northwest, Central, Southeast and Southwest Parishes. Your Breeze profile will soon be updated with your new parish name. Later this summer, each parish will hold several fellowship opportunities so you can meet the shepherding team members and other people from Redeemer in your parish.
We are also asking our shepherding team members to be more explicit about the purpose of their contact when they reach out to you. Hopefully, you will know that their call, text, or email isn’t just a friendly “hello,” but is specifically designed to elicit from you prayer requests or other needs you have that our church can help meet.
Finally, there are several folks at Redeemer who are not part of our small group, choir, or discipleship ministries. If that describes you, look for a member of our shepherding team to reach out in the coming weeks to connect over lunch, dinner, or coffee. We believe that connection and service in the church is vital to our well-being as disciples.
We are honored and humbled to serve you. We hope to create a culture of care and connection here at Redeemer. More information on the fellowship opportunities this summer is forthcoming. Please let Assistant Pastor Jon Herr know if you have any questions or concerns, jherr@redeemerpres.org.
