The Dorcas Foundation-Burundi is a non-profit foundation that helps orphans, widows, and pygmies with resources like food, clothes, school supplies, and school fees for the purpose of evangelism.
Albert Yonimiki (co-founder) recently returned from a trip to Burundi and reports: “I was able to meet with all of those people, and gave food and clothes for Christmas to some of the pygmies in Muyinga province. We were also able to give presents to the orphans in the Dorcas Foundation. The pygmies shared with us a lot of issues, some of them basic needs like food, clothes and even places to live because they live in houses that are built using grasses. The orphans are in need of a place to stay because the place that we rent is small–they can’t all fit. They also need assistance with school fees and food.”
He continues, “We’ve seen God’s hands in it all! I started with nothing, but God opened doors in multiple ways through multiple people. Since we started we have baptized nine people and recently in December three people received Jesus in their life.
Reflecting on our partnership and how we can pray for them: “Redeemer has been a strong pillar to me and to the Dorcas Foundation though their prayers, advice, and financial support. Still now we need your support in all ways. Everything we do, our strength comes from Jesus, and there is a power from the united prayers–that’s why we need you as a Church to pray for me and the ministry, that God will continue to open ways to support these people. They need our support, and our heart is full of love to help!”
